Awake the Grapes Vineyard Run

Awake the Grapes is the 15th annual running event held at Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria, Minnesota. It features two race distances and courses that use the winery property and nearby roads and shoreline. The 5K course winds around the Carlos Creek Winery property and through onsite vineyards. The 10K course travels through the vineyards, out to County Road 34, along the east side of Lake Ida, then east on County Road 61 back to the winery.

Each course includes paved, gravel, and cross-country terrain. Course maps are provided for route details. After the races, the award ceremony takes place outside the Carlos Creek Winery tasting room; medals are presented to the top place in each age group for male and female runners in both the 5K and 10K, and overall top male and female awards are also given for each distance.

Registration details affecting event items are noted: registrations completed before midnight on May 3 receive an event t-shirt, and registrations after May 3 receive a drink ticket. There is a donation option during registration that supports children and includes an Awake the Grapes t-shirt for donors who pick up their shirt on race day.

Event hosts include the local Kiwanis organization and the Alexandria Figure Skating Club, which offers Learn to Skate USA group lessons and additional US Figure Skating curriculum. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
