The Mine Hill Half Marathon is a road half marathon on May 25 in Roxbury, Connecticut, with the start and finish at Mine Hill Distillery. The event is organized by Steep Endurance. Registration fees vary by date: $55 through March 31, $65 from April 1 to April 30, and $75 from May 1 through race day. A same-day bike event called the Gravel Challenge runs on the same day.
Course and race logistics
The course leaves the distillery and follows Route 67 for about 3/4 mile, then turns onto Sentry Hill Road. At about 1.5 miles it goes onto the soft dirt of Judds Bridge Road, crosses Judds Bridge, and continues to Walker Brook Road. At 3.7 miles the route climbs Shinar Mountain Road for about a mile, becomes Lower Church Hill Road just past 5 miles, and includes a 1/2 mile climb on West Church Hill Road with nearly 250 feet of gain to the halfway high point. The second half is mainly downhill and returns via Walker Brook Road, a dirt road beside a brook, then retraces steps back across Judds Bridge and onto Route 67 to the finish at the distillery.
There are three aid stations offering water and electrolyte drink. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own bottle, pack, or cup. Additional notes: limited parking at the distillery with nearby offsite parking, no refunds or bib transfers, course must be followed, parts of the course are open to traffic, headphone use is discouraged. Finishers receive a medal and a finisher award; top three overall male and female receive additional awards. Food and beverages will be available after the race.
