Midnight Mountain Marathon

The Midnight Mountain Marathon is a trail running event in Brecon, Wales, set in the mountains of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). The 2026 edition takes place on June 6th and includes multiple race formats held on mountain trails.

The event format sends runners from daylight into night, so some participants may need a torch. Finishers receive medals and mugs of tea.

The races include:

  • Marathon: 26 miles, 3500 ft climbing, includes the Fan Dance near Pen Y Fan.
  • Half Marathon: tough run with 2000 ft climbing and fewer tops than the full marathon.
  • Bergen Runs: Marathon or Half with an added 45 lb bergen on the back.

The program therefore offers four race entries: the Marathon, the Half Marathon, and bergen versions of both. The terrain is mountainous and involves significant ascent on trail routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
