Cocking Trail Junior Races
The Cocking Trail Junior Races take place in the South Downs, featuring routes through hilly and scenic terrain. Organized by the Midhurst Milers, these trail runs utilize the hills of the South Downs Way, offering participants various climbs and descents. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and operates under UK Athletics rules.
The junior events cater to specific age groups with two primary distance options:
- 3 km trail race for primary school children aged 6-8 and 9-11.
- 5 km trail race for secondary school participants aged 11-15.
The event headquarters and finish line are located at the Cadence Cycle Club Café in Cocking. The start line for the junior races is situated 1 km west of the headquarters on the South Downs Way. Participants walk from the race headquarters to this starting point prior to the race.
The marshalled courses include a short uphill section followed by a descent toward the finish line. The junior races conclude at the same location where the adult 10 km and 20 km events begin, allowing for a shared event atmosphere. Facilities on-site include a car park and a registration area where participants collect their details. Prize categories are available for both the 3 km and 5 km distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
