Mendocino Running Festival

The Mendocino Running Festival takes place in Mendocino Woodlands Park, a National Historic Landmark on the Mendocino coast. The event occupies a private group camp and is adjacent to the town of Mendocino. The setting is an ancient redwood forest with trail views from the Big River valley to the top valley edge.

Distances and formats:

  • 12hrs timed format
  • 6hrs timed format
  • 10K
  • Half marathon

The race course is a mostly single track, six mile loop with about 875 feet of climb. The loop includes log bridge crossings, stream crossings, and two aid stations. Timed formats run on the same loop as the fixed distances.

Camping and festival features are part of the weekend experience. Weekend accommodation fees include two nights of camping options, parking for one vehicle, access to hot showers and wash houses, Commons facilities, yoga sessions, evening live music, and evening campfire activities. Three camping options are described: tent cabins with cots and mattresses, space for campers and tow behinds, and tent/car sites near a creek. Camp assignments are published near Labor Day.

Food is available via a separate Weekend Food Pass priced at $50 per person. Registered racers receive one post-race lunch. Meals focus on fresh, local ingredients and offer vegetarian and vegan options, but not all severe dietary restrictions can be accommodated.

Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Outside 30 days a fee may be deferred to the next year; within 30 days there are no deferrals or refunds. Final results are posted within seven days after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
