Medoc Trail Races
Medoc Trail Races is an annual trail running event held at Medoc Mountain State Park in Hollister, North Carolina. The event is organized by volunteers from the Rocky Mount Endurance Club and features two distances that share the same start and finish area and run on similar looped courses.
- 10-Miler
- 5-Miler
The 10 Miler uses additional mountain bike trails and a summit loop. Most of the route follows trails after a short section on park roads, with single track sections, waterways, varied elevation, and one notably steep summit hill. Trails are marked with black signs and orange arrows and mile markers; the course is not officially certified but has been measured by participants. Timing is provided by Clockwork Timing. Aid stations appear at least three times per loop and offer water, Gatorade, and gels. GPS devices may have limited signal under full tree cover.
Finishers receive event apparel and a distance-specific medal; other included items are a customized bib with a trail name and an annual finisher surprise. Post-race provisions include soup and grilled hot dogs, and there is live bluegrass music from Rollin Coal. Event rules include a combined field cap of 500 runners, no dogs or bikes on course, no transfers or refunds, and a requirement that participants cover the course on foot. Packet pickup is available at the park picnic shelter on Friday evening and on race morning; there is no day-of registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
