The Roanoke Canal 5k

Roanoke Rapids, United States • 13 Sep 2025

The Roanoke Canal 5k is a trail running event held in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, following the historic Roanoke Canal Trail built in 1823. The course features a natural surface with mostly flat terrain and some hills, passing over original canal culverts and a large bulkhead once used for mill electricity. Alongside the 5k race, a Half Mile Fun Walk loops through Roanoke Rapids Day Use Park. Proceeds support replacing the batteau exhibit at the Roanoke Canal Museum, preserving replicas of 19th-century cargo boats. Awards are given across multiple age categories, and the event is professionally timed by Run The East, LLC. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
