The Roanoke Canal 5k

The Roanoke Canal 5k is a trail race in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, along the historic Roanoke Canal built in 1823. It offers a 5K and a 1/2 Mile Fun Walk, with proceeds supporting the Roanoke Canal Museum’s batteau exhibit. The course runs on the Roanoke Canal Trail—a natural-surface, generally flat route with a few hills, passing canal culverts from the 1820s and a bulkhead once used to divert water for local mills. This year’s theme is Celebrating America 250, inviting participants to wear patriotic attire, with a special award for the most patriotic participant regardless of finish.
