McDonald Forest 50K, May 2, 2026
The McDonald Forest 50K is an ultramarathon held in Oregon State University’s McDonald Forest. The 2026 event is the 30th running and is staged primarily on maintained singletrack trails, with a downhill finish over a pine needle covered trail. The course includes scenic viewpoints that look toward the Cascades, the Coast Range and Soap Creek Valley, and in early May the forest understory commonly features dogwoods and calypso orchids.
The route for 2026 returns to McCulloch Peak, the highest point in McDonald Forest, and incorporates additional singletrack sections. The event offers at least $400 in prize money and will provide live race tracking. Aid support includes four well stocked aid stations and post-race soup, bread, fruit, cookies and drinks. Race swag for entrants includes a pair of Injinji socks plus a Territory Run hoody and race shirt; availability of those items is linked to entry timing.
The race is limited to 300 entrants. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver at check in. Dogs are not permitted. The event is cupless for 2026. Corvallis Area Trailrunners is the 501(c)(3) charity that distributes proceeds to local middle and high school cross-country teams, the Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit and the OSU Research Forest. A Trail Mix Fund is available to waive registration fees for eligible applicants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
