The McDonald Forest 50K is a 50-kilometer trail race in McDonald Forest near Corvallis, Oregon. The 2026 edition is the 30th running. The event is organized by the Corvallis Area Trailrunners, a 501(c)(3) public charity operating under special use permits with Oregon State University and Starker Forests.
Course and setting
The course is run primarily on singletrack trails in the OSU McDonald Forest, with additional singletrack added for 2026 and a return to McCulloch Peak, the forest high point. The finish includes a downhill section with a pine-needle surface. Early May in the forest typically features flowering dogwoods and calypso orchids and offers views toward the Cascades, the Coast Range and Soap Creek Valley.
Entry, services and rules
The race is limited to 300 entrants. Entry fees are $125 standard, with student and veteran rates at $95 (coupon codes required). Registration includes four well-stocked aid stations, post-race soup, bread, fruit, cookies and drinks, plus a pair of Injinji socks and a Territory Run hoody and race shirt. A $50 refund is available for withdrawals before March 31, 2026; no transfers or carryovers to 2027. Under-18 entrants must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver at check-in. Dogs are not allowed. The event will be cupless for 2026, will offer live race tracking, and will award at least $400 in prize money.
