Event overview
The McDonald Forest 50K is a 50K trail race held in Corvallis, Oregon. The 2026 edition is the 30th running of the event. It is organized by Corvallis Area Trailrunners, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Race proceeds support local middle and high school cross-country teams, the Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit and the OSU Research Forest. Prize money of at least $400 will be awarded.
Registration is limited to 300 entrants. A reduced fee is available for students and veterans. A partial refund of $50 is available for withdrawals made before March 31, 2026. No entry transfers or rollovers to 2027 are allowed. The race will be cupless for 2026; aid stations are described as four well-stocked locations. Post-race food includes soup, bread, fruit, cookies and drinks. Registered entrants receive a pair of Injinji socks and a Territory Run hoody and race shirt.
Course and access
The course is run primarily within Oregon State University’s McDonald Forest and uses maintained singletrack trails. The route returns to McCulloch Peak, the forest high point, and finishes on a pine-needle downhill trail. In early May the forest typically features dogwood and calypso orchids and offers views of the Cascades, the Coast Range and Soap Creek Valley. The start area is at the OSU Forestry Cabin in the Peavy Arboretum near 8692 NW Peavy Arboretum Road, Corvallis, OR. Live race tracking will be provided.
