Margaret River Ultra Marathon

The Margaret River Ultra Marathon takes place 8 to 9 May 2027 in the Margaret River region of Western Australia. The event covers coastal and forest terrain, including towering Karri forests, cliff-top trails with coastal views, granite domes, and white sandy beaches along the Cape to Cape coastline.

Distances and formats include:

• 80 km ultra solo or in a relay team of 2 to 5 runners
• 42 km trail marathon solo
• 2 km kids race

Course routing and locations are specified for each distance. The 80 km route runs from Hamelin Bay to Howard Park. The 42 km marathon runs from Yallingup to Howard Park. The kids race is held at Howard Park.

Entries for the 2027 event open on 14 October 2026. The event applies field limits: the 80 km ultra allows 400 solo runners and 250 relay teams, and the 42 km marathon allows 400 solo runners. The finish area and event facilities are located at Howard Park, and the race includes support checkpoints and recovery provisions along the course.
