The Mardi Gras Canicross, 10k and 5k Run is scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Celery Fields in Sarasota, FL (900 Center Rd, Sarasota, FL 34240). The event includes multiple race options and awards by age group. Participants receive a race t-shirt and post-race snacks and refreshments. Local vendor booths and music will be present, and a guided group stretch is offered before the race. The 10k course consists of two laps.

Canicross rules and gear
All dogs running in canicross classes must wear designated canicross gear. Required equipment includes a harness with a Y chest band that does not restrict movement and a bungee lead of 4 to 6 feet attached to a hands-free waist belt. Only one dog may run with a handler unless entered in the 2-dog canicross class or the Dog Friendly 5k class. The 2-dog class will follow IFSS-style gear standards (single split bungee line with neckline) though the event is not IFSS sanctioned. Dog Friendly 5k rules are less restrictive, but face leads, flexi leashes, and no-pull harnesses are not allowed; a maximum of two dogs may run at a time.
