Mantario Marathon

The Mantario Marathon is a challenging, self-supported 2-day trail event held in Whiteshell, Manitoba, covering 64 km along the rugged Mantario Trail. Participants start at the Caddy Lake South trailhead, hiking or running 32 km to camp overnight at Moosehead Lake, then return 32 km the next day to the Big Whiteshell North trailhead. The course features difficult terrain with over 1500 meters of elevation change, water crossings, and slippery conditions through boreal forest and Canadian Shield. This "Fat Ass" event has no entry fee, aid stations, or official support, emphasizing self-reliance, navigation skills, and wilderness camping.
