Mansfield Marathon

The Mansfield Marathon takes place on the Great Victorian Rail Trail, utilizing a course known for being flat and scenic. The event is organized by Mansfield Athletics with support from the Friends of the Great Victorian Rail Trail. The running surface consists of a wide, smooth trail designed to minimize slippage, following a simple out and back format with few road crossings.

Participants can choose from five different distances:

  • 42.2 km marathon
  • 21.1 km half marathon
  • 10 km run
  • 5 km run
  • 2 km Primary School Junior Dash

The 2 km Junior Dash is open to children aged 12 and under, and is electronically timed. Participants in this category receive a finishers medal, and trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. Parents or guardians are permitted to accompany children under the age of 10 during the dash.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the Cancer Council and local health and well-being projects. Located in the High Country near Mt. Buller and Mt. Stirling, the venue provides access to the 134 km long Great Victorian Rail Trail for those interested in cycling or exploring the surrounding area.
