Mahoning Valley Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk

This community running and walking event at 2358 Mahoning Drive West in Lehighton offers two 5K course options and a one mile community walk. Distances include:

• 5K trail race over grass, dirt and wooded trails
• 5K road race on all asphalt to the county line and back
• 1 mile community walk on a closed, fairly flat asphalt road

The trail course features varied ups and downs and passes through farmland including corn, hay and Christmas tree fields. Roads for the event will be closed. The road course is all asphalt with some elevation changes and an approximate one mile turnaround point.

Preregistration by September 1 guarantees a T shirt and a swag bag while supplies last. Early entry fee is listed at $25 with a higher fee applying afterward; shirts and swag may be limited after preregistration. Children 13 and under may participate free or with a donation and receive a kids event gift but not a T shirt.

The event is held in conjunction with a Celebration of Community that includes a country barbecue, cornhole, games, music and a basket raffle. Events proceed rain or shine. Timing is by instant results chip timing and a photographer will be on site. No refunds or mailed awards are available.
