Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra

Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra is a Last Person Standing format held at "The Ark" in Denholm, QC. Runners complete repeated loops and must return to the corral every hour. If a runner is not in the corral when the audio signal calls "Goooooo!", they are out. The individual winner is the last runner to complete a full loop solo.

Three formats are offered: the Classic full loop, the shorter Kristi Loop, and a two person team event. Individuals may switch from the full loop to the Kristi Loop during the race if they can reach the corral in time. There is also a snowshoe Backyard Ultra with shorter loops and an indoor transition area around a wood boiler to change and protect gear from freezing.

Onsite provisions include fresh water, an electrolyte drink, and typical ultra snacks such as bananas, pretzels and roasted salted potatoes. Post event food includes chili, brownies and beer. Crew members are allowed in the transition area only; no support is permitted on course. The course will be cleared and flagged only a few days before the event and prerunning the course is not allowed for insurance reasons.

Distances:

  • Classic loop approximately 5.5 km to 6.0 km
  • Kristi Loop about 5 km
  • Winter Full 5.5 km, Kristi Loop under 5 km

Location: 285 ch. de Farrellton, Denholm, QC J0X 2C0. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
