Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra

The Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra is an endurance racing event held at "The Ark" in Denholm, Quebec. The competition follows the Backyard Ultra format where participants must complete a specific trail loop within one hour. A new lap starts every hour on the hour; runners who are not inside the starting corral when the signal sounds are disqualified.

The event continues until only one person remains to complete a final solo lap. Participants can choose from several categories based on the terrain and format: * **Classic Individual** : A loop measuring between **5.5 km** and **6.0 km** on technical terrain. * **Kristi Loop** : A shorter version of the course, measuring approximately **5 km**. * **2-Person Team** : A relay format on the Kristi Loop where partners can alternate laps or set their own strategy. * **Snowshoe BYU** : A winter version of the event requiring snowshoes on shortened loops. Individual runners on the full course are permitted to switch to the Kristi Loop during the event if they can no longer maintain the pace required for the longer distance. The venue provides a transition area where crew members are permitted to assist runners. On-site amenities include free camping with a firepit and picnic tables. The organizers provide water, electrolyte drinks, and basic snacks such as bananas and pretzels, followed by a post-race meal.
