Lost Sierra Endurance Race
The Lost Sierra Endurance Race takes place in and around Downieville, California on July 25, 2026. The event offers three trail distances and distinct course formats:
- 25K loop in the Downieville canyons, mostly single track, 2,330 ft elevation gain, 6 hour cutoff.
- 50K point to point from Plumas-Eureka State Park to Downieville, 5,360 ft elevation gain, shuttle option for a fee, 10 hour cutoff.
- 100K out-and-back from Downieville to Plumas-Eureka State Park and return, 10,780 ft elevation gain, 20 hour cutoff.
Aid stations: five unique aid stations supply water, hydration mix, and light food; Aid 1, 2, and 5 offer warm foods. Ice is provided but may be limited at Aid 3. The 25K uses Aid 1, the 50K uses Aids 1 to 4, and the 100K uses Aids 1 to 5. Drop bag access is available for 50K runners at Aid 2 and for 100K runners at Aid 2 and Aid 5.
Trails and terrain: roughly 70% alpine singletrack, 20% mountain bike singletrack, and 10% dirt, gravel, or paved road. The 100K requires a vest or pack, a space blanket, and a headlamp. Trekking poles are permitted. Pacers are allowed only for 100K runners on the return at Aid 5 or Aid 2; there are no shuttles for pacers.
Logistics and notes: Downieville has limited lodging and camping options. Tent camping at the start area is permitted but this is not a campground and offers no firepits, designated parking, or bear boxes. Registration credits and refund policies include a rollover schedule and a pregnancy exception for deferral or refund when requested at least seven days before the event.
Swag and awards: all runners receive a tee shirt; 25K and 50K finishers receive custom wood medals and 100K finishers receive a custom bronze belt buckle. Top finishers receive plaques or standing awards and the 100K last finisher receives a unique medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
