Event Overview

The Lory Summer Trail Series consists of four shorter trail races held on Tuesday evenings in August. The series includes two 5K runs, one 10K, and one 12K.

Distances & Dates

The races take place on four consecutive Tuesdays in August: the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th.

  • August 4: Flat and Fast Eltuck Valley 5K (250 feet of elevation gain)
  • August 11: Into the Hills Eltuck 10K (1,700 feet of elevation gain)
  • August 18: Into the Hills Eltuck 5K (700 feet of elevation gain)
  • August 25: Flat and Fast Eltuck Valley 12K (500 feet of elevation gain)

Location & Logistics

All races start at the Eltuck Picnic Area in Lory State Park, near Fort Collins, Colorado. Participants without an annual Colorado State Parks Pass will need to purchase a day pass for park entry. Bib pickup begins at the race start location.

Post-Race & Awards

Pizza and beverages are provided after each race. All participants are offered a free vintage shirt from previous races, subject to availability. Awards for top points scorers are presented at the end of the series.

Registration

Registration opens on December 15 of the year prior to the event. Pricing is tiered, with a discount for registering for the entire series. A special price of $10 per race is available for participants aged 17 and under. A transfer credit policy allows runners to move their entry to another race in the same series or receive credit for a future event, if requested at least 72 hours before a race.
