Little Backyard Adventure

Little Backyard Adventure is a looped trail endurance event held at L.B.A. Park in Olympia, WA. The event offers time-based formats that invite runners to complete as many loops as they choose; completed loops determine results rather than fastest time.

  • 12 Hour Endurance Run
  • 6 Hour Endurance Run
  • 3 Hour Endurance Run

The course is a roughly 4 mile loop on mostly single track through a neighborhood forest park. Each loop has about 200 ft of elevation gain and includes a few steep sections and technical, twisting trails under a canopy of ferns and moss. The race begins and ends at the main park shelter and the loop encircles the park area and ballfields.

Support at the loop head includes a staffed aid station stocked with water, electrolyte drink options, soda, fruit, chips, pickles and basic first aid; later in the day quesadillas and soup are offered. The event is cupless to reduce waste; reusable or collapsible cups are expected for aid station use and cups may be available for purchase at packet pickup.

Additional race features include a handmade finisher award for those who complete a loop, a limited edition sticker, a free ticket to the Trail Running Film Festival screening, planting of a tree for each finisher, clear course markings, and availability of a course map and GPX file. Parking is available at the main lot at 3333 Morse-Merryman Road SE. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
