Endurance Trail Running in Olympia

The Little Backyard Adventure takes place at L.B.A. Park in Olympia, Washington. This event is held within a preserved neighborhood forest park, featuring a course that winds through a canopy of ferns and moss. The race is designed as a loop-based endurance challenge on mostly single-track trails.

Participants can choose from three distinct time-based categories:

  • 3 Hour Endurance Run
  • 6 Hour Endurance Run
  • 12 Hour Endurance Run

The course consists of a loop measuring approximately 4 miles with about 200 feet of elevation gain per lap. The terrain includes technical trails, twisting sections, and several hills. The start and finish line is located at the main L.B.A. park shelter, where runners also have access to a dedicated aid station. This station provides water, electrolyte drinks, soda, and various snacks such as fruit, chips, and pickles. Hot food, including quesadillas and soup, is served later in the day.

This is a cupless, zero-waste event, requiring participants to bring their own collapsible cups. Runners may complete as many loops as they wish within their chosen timeframe and can stop at any point. All participants who complete at least one loop receive a handmade finisher award, and a tree is planted for every finisher.

The event includes a personal supply area near the start for drop bags and a local after-party. Registration also provides a ticket to a trail running film screening in downtown Olympia. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
