Leopold's Preserve 10k

Event Overview

This event features 5k and 10k trail races in Leopold's Preserve in Broad Run, Virginia. The course is mostly on a dirt path described as fairly flat, with some roots present. The 5k route is mostly a loop, while the 10k is an out-and-back course with a detour on the return. Walkers are welcome to participate.

Event Details

Runners receive a finisher's medal, a technical (Dri-Fit) event shirt, and chip timing. Participants can also opt for a virtual race. Points from this event count towards the organizer's Year-Long and Summer series for both the 5k and 10k distances, as well as a "Back of the Pack" series designed for runners with paces slower than a designated time.

Registration & Logistics

Registration fees are listed as $30 for the 5k and $45 for the 10k until July 31, after which prices increase. Race-day registration is available, with an additional fee. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations before a specified date in August.

Packet pickup is on-site, and participants are advised to arrive one hour before their race start. Parking is at Leopold's Preserve, with coordinates provided for GPS navigation.

On-Site Support

Multiple water stations are placed along the courses, with some offering Gatorade. Portable restrooms are located near the start/finish area. Live race results are available via Athlinks and a QR code on site. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners.
