Silver Rush 50 Run
The Silver Rush events take place in Leadville, Colorado, at the base of Dutch Henry Tubing Hill and use an out-and-back route beginning near the Cloud City Ski Hut. The main race is approximately 50 miles on primarily dirt roads through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. The course passes many historic gold and silver mines and remains open to vehicle traffic.
There are multiple event distances:
- 50 miles
- 15 miles
- 5 km Juniors (ages 10–18)
The 50 mile course is marked with pink flags; the 15 mile course with blue flags; the 5k juniors course with red flags. There are seven aid stations located at defined mile markers on outbound and inbound legs, and race cutoffs apply at several stations; the total course cutoff is 14 hours by chip time. Drop bags for the 50 Run are carried only to the Stumptown aid station at the halfway point. Crews are allowed only in designated areas including the start/finish, Printer Boy, and Stumptown aid stations.
Athletes and crews must use designated parking areas at Community Fields, the middle school, or the high school and use shuttles to reach the start area. The Silver Rush 50 Run serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 Run; a minimum of 35 qualifier coins are awarded to finishers of the longest distance and must be claimed at the awards ceremony. All finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
