Rodent Wriggle 2026

The Rodent Wriggle is a walking and running event scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026. It is the third edition, organized by the LDWA Norfolk and Suffolk group.

Participants can choose from three route distances:

  • 13.5 miles
  • 23 miles
  • 31.5 miles (50 kilometers)

The 13.5-mile route branches off the main route at 7 miles, and the 23-mile route branches off at 12.5 miles. Both rejoin the main route to finish. The event is named for its meandering path along the upper reaches of the River Rat.

The course travels through the gentle undulating countryside of Mid Suffolk. The 31.5-mile route passes 10 historic churches, including notable examples in Great Finborough, Harleston, and Rattlesden.

The start and finish point is the Needham Market Community Centre in Needham Market. Parking for the long and medium routes is available at the community centre. For the short route, free parking is provided at Station Yard or Needham Lake.

Checkpoints are established along the routes: 2 for the 13-mile route, 3 for the 23-mile route, and 4 for the 31.5-mile route. Refreshments are served at all checkpoints, and a light meal is available at the finish. Participants must bring their own mug and download the route description from the LDWA website prior to the event.

Dogs are permitted on the event but must be kept on leads and have appropriate liability insurance. They are not allowed inside any hall, except for assistance dogs.

Entry fees are £16 for LDWA members and £26 for non-members. Entries are limited to 165 participants, with no entries accepted on the day. All finishers receive a certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
