Course, safety, gear, and awards
The route explores trails and roads through Roxbury and nearby towns, including Flanders, Mount Olive, Budd Lake, Hackettstown, Byram, Hopatcong, Jefferson and Mount Arlington. Noted sections include trails in Stephen's State Park, Lake Hopatcong Trails, and Dickerson Mine Preserve, with views of Lake Hopatcong, Cranberry Lake and Budd Lake. An official course map is provided by the organizer and runners are urged to use it.
Aid stations are placed approximately every 10k. Organizers will not use chip timing or electronic trackers; teams receive a flag at each aid station and must check in with an aid station volunteer for credit and safety accounting. Required items include a reflective vest and GPS (phone acceptable). Participants are advised to carry hydration and nutrition. All finishers who start and finish receive a finisher medal and a banana. First place solo and first place relay team receive engraved trophies.
