Last of the Felascans - November 21, 2026
Last of the Felascans is a backyard ultra held in Alachau, FL at San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park. Competitors run a 4.167 mile loop each hour and are eliminated if they fail to complete a loop within that hour. The loop distance is set so that completing 24 loops equals 100 miles. There is no predefined finish; the winner is the runner who completes a loop that no other competitor completes. If no runner outlasts all others, there is no winner.
The course uses trails during daytime and a dirt road after dark; there is no pavement on either section. There will be a maximum 10 foot by 10 foot area for each runner to set up a base camp at the start/finish. There are no aid stations on course and no aid allowed outside the start/finish area. Bathrooms and water will be available at the start/finish, and ice may be available. Participants receive a whistle countdown at three, two, and one minute remaining before each loop start. Shirts will be provided and the final remaining runner will receive a special trophy.
Race rules require runners to be in the starting corral at the bell, to start when the bell rings, and to receive no assistance after the bell until the loop is complete. Refunds are not offered for dropouts; fees from dropouts will be donated to the Friends of San Felasco.
San Felasco Hammock Preserve is noted for biological diversity and geological features and encompasses over 7,000 acres as a protected mesic hammock. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
