Last of the Felascans
Last of the Felascans is a backyard ultra held in Alachau, FL at San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park, near 12730 NW 109th Ln. Registration closes Wed, Nov 18 @ 11:59 PM ET.
The format follows the Last One Standing model. Competitors run a 4.167-mile loop every hour and are eliminated if they fail to complete the loop within the hour. The loop uses trails by day and a dirt road after dark; there is no pavement on the course. The loop distance is 100 divided by 24 so a competitor who runs continuously for a full day covers 100 miles. There is no predefined finish; the winner is the competitor who completes a loop that no other competitor completes. If no single competitor outlasts all others, there is no winner.
Each runner may set up a maximum 10'x10' base camp at the start/finish area. There are no aid stations on course and no aid allowed outside the start/finish area. Bathrooms and water are available at the start/finish; ice may be available. A whistle will sound at 3, 2, and 1 minute remaining before each loop start. Shirts will be provided and the last person standing receives a trophy.
Race rules require runners to be in the starting corral and to start when the bell rings, and they must not receive assistance after the bell until they complete the loop. There are no refunds; entry fees for dropouts will be donated to the Friends of San Felasco. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
