Last of the Felascans
Last of the Felascans is a Backyard Ultra scheduled for November 21, 2026, in Alachau, FL, organized by Mule Racing. The event is held in San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park, a protected area purchased under Florida’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program in 1974 and now over 7,000 acres.
Participants run a 4.167 mile loop each hour and are eliminated if they do not complete a loop within that hour. The loop follows trails during daylight and a dirt road after dark; there is no pavement on either course. Each loop equals 100 divided by 24 so that a competitor who completes a full day accrues 100 miles. There is no predefined finish; the winner is the competitor who completes a loop that no other competitor completes. If no competitor outlasts every other competitor, there is no winner.
Each runner may use a maximum 10 by 10 foot area at the start and finish for a base camp. There are no aid stations on course and no aid allowed outside the start and finish area. Bathrooms and water are available at the start and finish; ice may be available. Organizers will sound whistles at three, two, and one minute before the start of each yard. Shirts will be provided and the Last Person Standing will receive a commemorative trophy.
If a participant drops, there are no refunds and the entry funds for dropouts will be donated to the Friends of San Felasco. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
