Last of the Felascans

Last of the Felascans is a Backyard Ultra held on Saturday, Nov 21, 2026 in Alachau, FL at San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park. Participants run a 4.167 mile loop each hour and are eliminated if they fail to complete a loop within the hour. The hourly loop equals 100 divided by 24 so a competitor who completes a full day of competition will have run 100 miles. There is no predefined finish; the competitor who completes a loop that no other competitor completes is the winner. If no competitor outlasts all others, there is no winner.

The course uses trails during daylight and a dirt road after dark; there is no pavement on the course. There will be a maximum 10 foot by 10 foot area for each runner to set up a base camp at the start/finish. There are no aid stations on course and no aid allowed outside the start/finish area. Bathrooms and water will be available at the start/finish and possibly ice. A whistle is sounded at 3, 2, and 1 minute remaining before the start of each loop. Shirts will be provided and the last person standing receives a special trophy.

Race rules require runners to be in the starting corral when the bell rings, to start when the bell rings, and to receive no assistance after the bell until they complete the loop. There are no refunds for dropouts; fees from dropouts will be donated to the Friends of San Felasco. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
