Event Overview

The Laliik Trail Races take place on March 7, 2026, at the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve in Benton City, Washington. This is the 9th edition of the event. It is a fundraiser for the Winter Mountain Running Series and for the Rattlesnake Slope Preserve.

Distances & Course

The event features four trail running distances:

  • 6 Hour: A timed event where participants run as many loops of the 11K course as possible within 6 hours.
  • 10 Mile: A trail run with about 1,400 feet of climbing, described as very runnable.
  • 11K: A loop with approximately 1,400 feet of total climbing. It includes a steep, 0.43-mile section called The Mountain Goat Challenge, which ascends 700 feet.
  • 5K: An out-and-back trail with 450 feet of elevation gain.

Registration & Logistics

Registration fees vary by distance and date, with lower prices available until December 31, 2025. Pre-registration closes on February 26, 2026. Day-of registration is available for the 10 Mile, 11K, and 5K distances, but not for the 6 Hour event. Packet pickup is available on Friday, March 6, in Richland, Washington, and on race day at the trailhead starting at 5:00 AM. This is a cupless event; participants must bring their own water bottle.

Awards & Prizes

All participants receive a finisher glass. Overall top three male and female finishers in each event receive awards. A $100 cash prize is offered for any new course record set in the 5K, 11K, 10 Mile, or 6 Hour events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
