Climb 89
Climb 89 is an Everesting style hill repeat event held in December 2026 in Richland, WA. Participants repeat a designated out-and-back climb on the Badger Mountain Westgate access road to accumulate total elevation gain. The one-way course is 0.35 mile with about 89 meters (292 feet) of elevation gain per ascent, an average grade of 16 percent, and a mix of dirt and rocky, uneven terrain. The course is also a named Strava segment.
Lap counting uses barcode scanners. Each participant receives a lanyard badge with a barcode and may use a bib barcode instead. Water, electrolytes, and snacks are available at the single aid station located at the start and finish area. Additional food is provided during scheduled meal periods. Participants may set up a canopy in the Event Operations area on a first come first serve basis and may use their vehicle as an aid spot with restrictions.
Finisher awards are based on completed laps with categories tied to cumulative elevation gains that correspond to named mountains, including a 100 lap category equal to 29,032 ft. The entry fee covers the event, food and snacks, and a finisher award. The event is limited to 75 participants and registration closes several days before the event.
Participants must follow event rules including no sleeping during the event, crossing turnaround lines for laps to count, yielding to trail users, wearing sturdy footwear, carrying a working light when it is dark, and completing the final lap before course closure.
