Lake James 7 Miler & 5k
The Lake James 7 Miler and 5k are trail races hosted at Fonta Flora Brewery's Whippoorwill Farm in Nebo, NC, that route runners onto the trails of Lake James State Park. Courses use single track trails, include sections of gravel trail, and feature light rolling hills.
Both events are chip timed and held rain or shine. Dogs and strollers are not allowed on the race courses; service animals may be allowed with prior approval and supporting documentation. Virtual entries are available and include mailed race shirt, medal, and bib for U.S. addresses.
Distances:
- 7 Miler: single track trails, 425 ft elevation gain, three aid stations
- 5k: single track and gravel trail, 123 ft elevation gain, one aid station passed twice
The 7 Miler includes two road crossings and has a two hour course time limit. Aid stations provide water only at specified mile points. Parking is provided at a main lot with an adjacent overflow gravel and grass lot, and the road to runner parking will be temporarily closed during race starts.
Registration items include a wooden finisher medal, commemorative race shirt, one Fonta Flora beer or nonalcoholic alternative, and a donation to the Lake James Environmental Association.
