The course starts at the marina and travels around the Lake Chabot reservoir and surrounding hills. Distances are measured with a Rolatape surveyor's measuring wheel. The route is marked with ribbon approximately every 200 yards and color coded by event. Polka-dot flagging indicates turns; blue ribbons mark wrong directions. Aid stations are fully stocked every 4 to 5 miles with fresh fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink; runners are advised to carry at least 20 ounces of water between stations. The event is cupless and participants are asked to bring their own fluid container; a limited number of Hydrapak SpeedCups are available for purchase.

Additional logistics: drop bags are allowed for the 30K, Marathon, and 50K at the Start/Finish. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Dogs are not allowed on course. The course notes mention poison oak and occasional bees or yellow jackets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
