Kilworth Backyard Ultra

The Kilworth Backyard Ultra is an extreme endurance running event held in Kilworth Woods, County Cork. Participants run a 6.7 km loop with approximately 125 meters of elevation gain every hour, starting from the main car park. The race continues until only one runner completes a loop more than any other, with no fixed finish distance.

The course mainly features wide paths and some narrow forest trails, with only major junctions marked. Aid stations are located at the start/finish area, where runners can receive water and light refreshments, but no aid is allowed on the course. Runners must carry mandatory advanced-level safety gear and may have crew support only at the base camp.
