Keystone Iowa Zombie Apocalypse 5K

The Keystone Iowa Zombie Apocalypse 5K is scheduled for October 10, 2026, in Keystone, Iowa. The event is a 5K distance race that will be chip timed.

Participants wear flag belts similar to those used in flag football. Volunteers in makeup and/or costumes act as zombies and are positioned along the course to attempt to pull runners' flags. Zombies will not physically contact participants except in attempts to pull a flag from a belt. Pulling, grabbing, pushing, or striking a zombie or a runner is not permitted.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Keystone First Responders and to a secondary charity that has not yet been determined. Registration opens April 1, 2026, and closes October 6, 2026. The registration fee is $35. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
