About the race
The Keweenaw Ultramarathon is a fully supported trail race held on the Michigan Technological University Tech Trails in Houghton, MI. The event uses a single marked loop on local trails; 25k runners complete one loop and 50k runners complete two loops.

- 50K two loops of the course
- 25k one loop of the course
The route is marked with neon flags on the runner's right; flags on the left indicate the wrong direction. Closed trails are marked with caution tape. Runners must check in at every aid station encounter by telling the aid-station volunteer their bib number. Aid stations are located at the main trailhead and at Nara, with stops near miles 4.2, 11.8, 15.6, 19.8, and 27.4; they will offer water, drink mix, and common ultra foods. Athletes may use personal hydration and snacks and may access gear at the trailhead tent, community room, or their parked cars after checking in at the trailhead aid station.
Drop bags may be stored in the community room, under the tent, or in cars and can be accessed during the race once the runner checks in. Pacers are not allowed. The 50k requires a headlamp for the early portion of the race. Runners will cross Pilgrim Road multiple times; a person will assist crossings but traffic will not be stopped.
Races are timed through UltraSignup without live tracking. Awards are given to the top athlete in each distance, and prizes are distributed to participants later in the day. Time limits are set by duration for each distance and are strictly enforced for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
