Keweenaw Ultramarathon : Houghton, MI
The Keweenaw Ultramarathon takes place on November 7, 2026 at the Michigan Technological University Tech Trails in Houghton, MI. The event offers two trail distances and uses a looped course on singletrack and forest trails located off Sharon Avenue across from Sherman Field.

- 25K
The 25K covers one loop of the course; the 50K runs two loops. A headlamp is required for the early portion of the 50K. The route is marked with neon flags on the right; flags on the left indicate the wrong direction. Closed trails are marked with caution tape. Runners cross Pilgrim Road multiple times; volunteers assist crossings but do not stop road traffic.
Aid stations are located at the main trailhead and at Nara, with additional aid at miles 4.2 (6.8 km), 11.8 (19 km), 15.6 (25.1 km), 19.8 (31.9 km), and 27.4 (44.1 km). Stations provide water, drink mix, and typical ultra foods. Athletes must check in at every aid station by giving their bib number. Drop bags may be left in the community room, under a tent, or in vehicles and are accessible after checking in at the trailhead.
Timing is handled through UltraSignup and there is no live tracking. Pacers are not allowed. Time limits are enforced: 50K has an 8-hour cut-off and 25K has a 7-hour cut-off. Parking is at the main trailhead with overflow and additional lots for volunteers and spectators. Event merchandise includes T-shirts sold during the race.
