Keweenaw Ultramarathon

The Keweenaw Ultramarathon is a trail race held on the Michigan Technological University Tech Trails in Houghton, Michigan. The event uses marked single-loop terrain on trails accessed from the main trailhead off Sharon Avenue across from Sherman Field.

Distances

• 50K - two loops of the marked 25K course, headlamp required for the first 1.5 hours.
• 25K - one loop of the marked course.

The course is marked with neon flags on the right-hand side; flags on the left indicate the wrong direction. Closed trails at intersections are marked with caution tape. Aid stations are located at the main trailhead and at Nara, with additional station encounters at miles 4.2 (6.8 km), 11.8 (19 km), 15.6 (25.1 km), 19.8 (31.9 km), and 27.4 (44.1 km). Aid stations provide water, drink mix, and standard ultra foods; all athletes must check in at each aid station by reporting their bib number.

Races are timed through UltraSignup and there will not be live tracking. Pacers are not allowed. The 50K has an 8-hour cut-off and the 25K has a 7-hour cut-off. Parking is available at the main trailhead with overflow parking in the nearby field; additional Nara parking is available for volunteers and spectators.
