Kettlewell Anniversary Fell Race
The Kettlewell Anniversary Fell Race is a single lap fell event held in and around Kettlewell. It was established in 2009 to mark the 25th anniversary of Abbey Runners. North Leeds Fell Runners have organised the race since 2014.
The course covers a distance of 5 Miles on hilly fell terrain. Much of the route runs on tracks and grass with a few boggy sections when the weather is wet. The route follows a clockwise direction from the start at grid reference SD 966723, with an initial steep climb to the fell crest, a fast descent to Arncliffe, a route along the wood edge to the footpath back toward Kettlewell, and a final climb over the fell before descending past Moor End Farm and along the main farm track to the finish.
There is a novelty prize for the first man and first woman who catch the designated "rat runner"; the prize is claimed by collecting the rat and returning it to a race official.
Entry is limited to 100 places with 85 still available at the time of listing. Entry fees are £6 for EA affiliated runners and £8 for non affiliated runners. If entries remain, on the day entry is available for an additional £2. The race licence is not applicable and the event is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Race headquarters are at Kettlewell Village Hall, Middle Lane, Kettlewell, BD23 5QX. Public toilets are available at the Kettlewell car park. No water, distance markers, changing facilities, showers, or baggage storage are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
