Kettle Cooker Five & Dime

The event takes place at Glenroy Preserve in Nottingham, Pennsylvania, using preserved natural trails that pass through areas associated with the Underground Railroad and by a tavern reported to have served patrons during the Civil War. The races are held on October 4.

Distances offered:

  • 5 Miles one loop, splits around mile 4 to the finish
  • 25K follows the 5 mile loop then diverts to unique trails
  • 50K two loops of the 25K route

All courses use mixed, sometimes technical terrain with rocky sections and multiple creek crossings. The 5 mile route includes three creek crossings; the longer distances include at least six. Organizers recommend trail specific running shoes for better traction and drainage.

There are multiple on course aid stations, described in materials as three or four, providing water and nutrition. Chip timing is provided, and registered participants receive a soft race tee. Post race provisions include snacks, food, music, and a complimentary beer for participants aged 21 and over.

Pre-race packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday, October 3 from 12:00 to 15:00 at Lola's, 57 S. 3rd St., Oxford, PA. Race registration closes on October 3; there is no race day registration or packet pickup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
