Kentucky Cryptid Series - Mothman

The Kentucky Cryptid Series - Mothman is a trail running event held at Waverly Park in Louisville. This competition marks the second entry in a four-part series of trail runs taking place across the parks of Louisville. The event is centered around the playground area of Waverly Park, where the course winds through the local trail system.

Participants can choose between two main distances:

  • Mothman 6 Miler
  • Mothman Half Marathon

The event is organized as a cupless race, requiring participants to bring their own hydration equipment, such as water bottles or hydration packs. While limited bottled water and post-race snacks are provided, the organizers emphasize sustainability within the park. Packet pick-up is located on-site near the pavilion before the start.

Awards are presented to the overall male, female, and non-binary winners. Runners who complete at least three of the four races in the Kentucky Cryptid Series, either in person or virtually, are eligible for a series survivor shirt and a themed medal. Event-specific shirts are available as optional additions during registration. Due to limited parking at Waverly Park, carpooling is encouraged for all participants.
