Kent Backyard Ultra Series 2.1: Vigo

Kent Backyard Ultra Series 2.1 at Vigo is a night time backyard ultra based at Vigo Rugby Club in Meopham, Kent. The course leaves the rugby club and follows woodland trails around the surrounding area. The event lists a course record of 28 yards (2025).

The format requires runners to complete a repeated loop called a yard. Each yard measures 4.167 miles. Runners must begin each yard on the hour and finish that loop within the hour to continue; missing the bell ends an individual’s race. The format produces a single Last Person Standing who completes one more yard than anyone else; the last runner to complete a yard before the winner is recorded as the Assist.

Entry options include the full open-ended Backyard Ultra, where participants continue for as long as they can meet each hour’s cutoff, and a 7 hour Challenge entry that limits participation to seven hours while running the same course and alongside the full field.

Entries include a fully marked and managed course, professional chip timing, on-site medical cover, event hub support, and inclusion in event results and series standings. Awards at the event and across the series include Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Black Buckle distinctions, a Last Person Standing medal, and a new team prize of £200 for the team, club, or charity that collectively runs the furthest. A volunteer option called the Hellfire Crew provides event support; volunteers must be 18 or older and receive event credit and refreshments.
