Jungle Gardens Running Events
The Jungle Gardens 7K Trail, 5K Run, and 1 Mile event takes place on Avery Island, Louisiana. The courses utilize the hard-packed roads that wind through the local gardens and natural scenery. Participants can choose from several distances and formats:
- 7K Trail Run (approx. 4.3 miles)
- 5K Run (approx. 3.1 miles)
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- Virtual 5K or 7K
The event serves as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, helping to cover treatment, travel, and housing costs for patients. Race participants receive finisher medals for the 1 mile, 5K, and 7K distances. For the 5K and 7K races, t-shirts are provided to those who register by the guaranteed deadline in October.
The race site is located near the McIlhenny Factory and local gift shops. On-site amenities following the event include food provided by the Knights of Columbus. Packet pickup is held on the day before the race at a running store in Lafayette.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers in the 1 mile race. For the 5K and 7K events, awards are given to the top overall, masters, and grand masters finishers, as well as the top three participants in age groups ranging from 1-14 to 70+.
