The Jug End Loop Ultra is held at Jug End State Reservation, 120 Jug End Road, Egremont, MA. The event includes a timed ultra with a six-hour limit and a separate 4.2 mile run. The event supports local charities; proceeds benefit the Louison House in North Adams, MA, and the 4.2 Mile John G Memorial Run will donate profits to Dana Farber.

Course and format

The main lap is 4.2 miles on the Jug End Loop Trail, passing through woods, fields, and an apple orchard. Each lap has approximately 2.1 miles of uphill and 2.1 miles of downhill and about 830' elevation change per lap. Participants may run or walk as many full laps of the 4.2 mile course as they choose within the six-hour limit. No partial 4.2 mile laps are scored. In the final hour a 0.75 mile mini loop will be available; incomplete 4.2 mile laps do not count after the time limit. The route includes the upper loop as part of the course.

Registration and awards

Early bird registration runs until December 1; regular registration follows and registration closes on August 22. Overall awards are given to top male and female finishers. Age group awards for the six-hour event cover 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. All finishers receive a 16 oz handmade ceramic mug; champions receive handmade awards. A 10% discount code "SERVICE!" is offered for teachers, active and retired service members, and first responders.
