Jim Bridger Trail Run

The Jim Bridger Trail Run takes place on July 18, 2026 in Bozeman, Montana, at the Sypes Canyon Road area. This is the 33rd annual running of the event and it includes both a longer trail race and a shorter neighborhood fun run. Registration opens January 31, 2026 at 10:00 and closes May 18, 2026 at 01:59. Registration fees are $58.00 for the 10-mile event and $40.00 for the 5 km event.

  • 10 miles: trail race with 2,838 feet elevation gain.
  • 5 km: rolling dirt road fun run.

The 10-mile course is a scenic loop that starts near the Sypes Canyon trailhead and crosses private property accessible only on race day. Runners climb through Middle Cottonwood, encounter a water crossing, continue across the Bridger foothills, and descend back into Sypes Canyon. There is a self-enforced time cutoff for 10-mile runners who must reach the turn to the Bridger Foothills Trail by 9:15 AM. The start and finish area will be broken down at 12:30 and organizers request that runners, staff, and medical personnel be back by that time.

The 5 km follows a rolling dirt road lollipop loop that uses Ptarmigan Road, Rolling Hills Road, and East Panorama Drive. A post-race BBQ includes food, drinks with beer available, and raffle prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
