Bridger Ridge Run
The Bridger Ridge Run is a remote, not for profit foot race of approximately 19.9 Miles along the crest of the Bridger Mountains near Bozeman, Montana. The event is organized and staffed largely by volunteers and is limited to 250 participants by permit.
The route leaves the Fairy Lake parking area and climbs above tree line to a series of peaks and ridge sections. Terrain includes unstable footing, steep ascents, loose descents, exposed ridge sections, occasional scrambling on limestone blocks, and sections that are less technical as the course approaches the finish. Several aid stations are placed along the route; some are minimal with water only, while others include medical teams, snacks, and tracking of participant progress. All supplies for aid stations are carried in by volunteers and participants should carry their own gear and provisions. The race is cupless; each participant must carry a refillable water vessel.
Registration uses an application lottery and rewards volunteering; applicants enter a credit card that will only be charged if selected. There is no wait list. Cancellation rules state registered participants who cancel do not receive refunds; if the event is canceled, registrants may roll over their entry or donate the fee. Unused proceeds support local trail and stewardship nonprofits.
A pre race meeting at the finish area is held the Friday before the race to review route, conditions, safety, aid station services, logistics, and rules. Start waves are used and participants are assigned to waves; arriving at designated cutoff checkpoints after the posted cutoffs results in disqualification.
