Jasper Mountain Trail Fest
Jasper Mountain Trail Fest is a fundraising event that benefits Jasper Mountain Reserve, a 501(c)(3) organization working to improve wildlife habitat for rare and endangered plants and animals in the Blue Mountains in southeast Washington. The event is held at Jasper Mountain Reserve on Payne Hollow Road near Dayton, WA 99328.
Race options cover a range of distances:
- 4-person relay, total 52.4 miles
- Solo Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, 2,570 feet elevation gain
- Solo Full Marathon, 26.2 miles, 5,140 feet elevation gain
- 7k Family Run, 4.3 miles, minimal elevation gain
The course uses three single track loops: Red Loop (3.3 miles), Green Loop (4.4 miles), and Black Loop (5.4 miles). All three loops combined equal 13.1 miles; the full marathon is two complete circuits of the combined loops. The relay uses a single assigned bib on an adjustable belt that is passed between four team members; teams rotate through the red, green, and black loops until each member has completed all three loops. Race timing records team results and individual splits.
On-site camping is available within the reserve and is located on the race course; parking and campsites close to the start and finish area are included in the race fee. The reserve is off grid with no water or electricity. Portable sanitary facilities are provided. Loud noises and generators are prohibited, dogs must be on leash, campfires are allowed only in a designated area subject to seasonal restrictions, and participants are asked to pack out all trash. Nearby overnight options are available in Dayton, Waitsburg, and Walla Walla. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
