The Isle of Wight Fell Series

The Isle of Wight Fell Series is a fell running championship series organized in association with Ventnor Fell Running Association. It is run under FRA Rules and incorporates the SEAA Fell Running Championships. The event comprises three distinct races held over a weekend.

Race Distances and Details:

  • Race 1: The St Boniface Fell (AS), 3.8km with 235m ascent.
  • Race 2: The Ventnor Horseshoe (BM), 12km with 443m ascent.
  • Race 3: The Wroxall Round (CL), 21km with 487m ascent.

Registration and race headquarters are at St Catherine’s School in Ventnor, which has changing facilities with showers. The location is noted as five minutes from the start on the seafront. Parking at the venue is very limited, but free on-street parking is available nearby. On-the-day entries may be available unless the race sells out. Numbers are issued at registration on race day. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs due to stiles and extreme terrain.

The event follows specific rules: GPS is not allowed for navigation (but is permitted as a safety backup), and walking poles are not permitted. Runners must be a minimum age in accordance with FRA rules. The use of in-ear or over-ear headphones is not permitted for safety reasons, though bone-conducting headphones are allowed. Running with dogs is also not permitted. Only Race 3 has a water station. Littering outside of the water stations is prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
