Event Overview

The IRON HORSE is an endurance running event taking place on January 2, 2027, in Paris, Texas. The races will be held on the Northeast Texas Trail (NETT).

Distances

The event offers four race distances:

  • 100K
  • 100K RUCK
  • 100 Mile
  • 50K

Course Details

The course is a point-to-point route on the NETT. The surface is a mix of dirt, gravel, pavement, and grass. The profile is mostly flat, with approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain for the 100K and 2,000 feet for the 100 Mile. The event is a "no cup" race, meaning participants must bring their own water-carrying system. Pacers are allowed, but only one per runner and only in the last half of each race.

Event Location and Features

The start/finish area is the Love Civic Center at 2025 S Collegiate Dr in Paris, Texas. Aid stations with food and hydration, warming stations, and several crew access points will be provided along the fully supported course. Participants receive a long-sleeve shirt and hoodie. Finishers receive custom awards, including buckles for the 100K and 100 Mile distances. Unique finisher plaques, engraved with the runner's name and distance and including an authentic railroad spike from the trail, are also awarded.

Additional Notes

A headlamp is required for all participants. For the RUCK division, participants weighing over 150 lbs must carry a 30 lb ruck, and those under 150 lbs must carry a 20 lb ruck. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Murphy Church hosts the Second Annual Run for Hope 5k, a community run and walk benefiting Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. Registration is a new pair of shoes or socks and collections run January 11 to March 1.

A March 7, 2026 run/walk in Garland, Texas honoring the five-year anniversary of the organizer's daughter, featuring memorial crafts, kid activities, personalized signs along the course, and a water station at the halfway point.

The Towne Lake Half Marathon, 10K & 5K offers certified courses with scenic lake views in McKinney. All participants receive a tech shirt and finisher medal. The event benefits the local police association.

A community running event in Allen, Texas on April 19, 2026 featuring a 5K and a 1 mile fun run along the Cottonwood Creek Trail System. Packet pick up is available April 14, April 16 and on race morning.
