Icicles On The Moon Trail Run
Icicles On The Moon is a night trail run at Zindel Park, McElhattan, PA on December 19, 2026. The event uses local trails around the reservoir and departs from the Zindel Park caretaker's house. Participants must wear a headlamp and be prepared for winter conditions; the event will proceed as planned.
Available distances:
- 7 Miler: follows Outer Limits and Spring Run on the back end of the Zindel area.
- 5K: follows Gut Check and the Gorge Trail with one short steep climb.
The 7 miler route starts at the Zindel house, follows the road to the reservoir, crosses a metal foot bridge, then takes Final Cut to Gut Check. Runners ascend Gut Check to the top, turn left onto Outer Limits out to Pine Loganton Road, pass an aid station at the parking lot, descend Spring Run with five stream crossings to the Gorge Trail, continue to Black Diamond, then Creekside Trail to the finish. The 5K follows the same course until the top of Gut Check, continues on Gut Check, crosses the bridge over McElhattan Run, then proceeds to Gorge Trail, Black Diamond, and Creekside to the finish.
The event is open to the first 250 runners, hikers, or walkers. No refunds, no deferrals, and no bandits are permitted. Registration for the 2026 event opens July 19, 2026 via online registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
