Ice Age Trail 50

The Ice Age Trail 50 is an endurance trail event in Wisconsin held on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The event offers multiple distances over a course that runs through dense deciduous forest, beneath tall pines, across rocky ridges and open prairies. Runners pass lakes, kettles, kames, erratics and other glacial features left when the glaciers retreated more than 10,000 years ago.

Distances offered

  • 50 miles
  • 50K
  • Half marathon

Registration for the 2026 races opened December 14 with an early-registration opportunity on December 6 for several eligible groups, and the 2026 races are listed as sold out. The event typically sells out in hours. A wait list is maintained and has historically resulted in opportunities for wait-listed 50 mile and 50K entrants.

Training runs are scheduled in April: a 35-mile run and a 19-mile run. Training routes will be flagged and include one minimalist aid station; parking in the Nordic lot requires a state park sticker. Deferrals are allowed until February 20, 2026, for one year; refunds and bib transfers are not permitted.

On race day, pacers are not allowed and dogs are not permitted on the course. Medical personnel will be available at the start/finish area. Results are posted race night at mtechresults.com. The post-race barbecue includes vegetarian options and beer service; participants are asked to bring their own cup if desired. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
