Kaʻena Point Firecracker - July 4, 2026

The Kaʻena Point Firecracker is a scenic, double out-and-back trail run along the north shore of Kaʻena Point State Park. The course covers 10.6 miles and passes beaches, dirt roads, and single-track trails. Total elevation gain is about 295 feet.

The route has few trees, so there are no roots, but it features many rocks underfoot. Runners should expect exposed sections where the sun can be strong by the end of the event. Damage from winter storms this year prevents use of the west side of the customary Firecracker route.

After the run, organizers provide water, juice, sodas, fruit, and snacks. Participants can also cool off in the ocean at the finish area. The event celebrates the 4th of July and the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and participants are encouraged to dress festively.
