HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon

Event overview

The HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Lone Tree, Colorado. It is the 17th annual running of this half marathon and covers 13.1 miles on local trails, including sections of the Douglas County East/West trail and trails in the Highlands Ranch Community Association Backcountry Wilderness Area. Course and logistics

The course is a single loop on 100% dirt, gravel, and singletrack surfaces. There are four aid stations on course offering water; participants are encouraged to bring their own hydration systems to minimize waste. The organizer notes typical November trail conditions may include mud, snow, or ice, and the event proceeds in most weather unless trails become inaccessible. Dogs and strollers are strictly prohibited. Race amenities include a long sleeve technical race shirt, custom bib, finisher medal, a pancake breakfast, and post-race beer.
