Holcombe 10 takes place on 16 May 2026 at the Hare & Hounds, 400 Bolton Rd West, Holcombe Brook, Ramsbottom BL0 9RY. The event is organised by The Sunnywood Project in collaboration with the National Trust. Distances offered are:

Entries open 28 January 2025 and close 1 May 2026. Minimum age is 18 or older. Entry fees are £25 for the 10K and £28 for the 10 Mile. The event includes a finisher memento. The entry list shows 57 participants so far.

Course and logistics

Both routes start at the Hare & Hounds and pass through Redisher Woods. The course includes a short steep climb to Peel Tower, runnable stretches on bridleways, and sections over moorland by Beetle Hill. The 10K contours to Pilgrims Cross, crosses Harcles Hill and descends back via Redisher Wood Nature Reserve. The 10 Mile contours around Bull Hill, crosses mosses toward Crowthorn and Quarlton Heights, crosses Red Brook and ascends to Pilgrims Cross to rejoin the finishing route. Water stations are located at Peel Tower and at the National Trust ranger base at Chatterton Close. Participants are advised to carry basic kit such as a waterproof jacket and trousers, a spare warm layer, hat and gloves, 500 ml of water, a charged mobile with OS Maps or OS Locate, suitable trail shoes, a foil blanket, a whistle and personal snacks. Run the Petzl Night Runner at Rivington under head torch light, choosing 10 km or a half marathon on glow in the dark trail signage. Expect rough, boggy, rocky terrain, a finisher medal and lively post race buzz.

Take on The Half & Half 10 km on 25 January 2026 at Sowerby Bridge for a split terrain challenge. Rugged muddy trails and obstacles give way to a tarmac finish, entries are limited to 100 and hoodies are available to pre order.

Timed lap based event on a flat 5.3 km riverside out and back near Hardy Farm in Manchester, with flexible distances from 5 km to ultra and a seven hour time limit. Medal free entry option and a charity donation per finisher.

Hoofstones Fell Race in Todmorden covers 8 miles with 425 m of climb across the Pennines, testing navigation skills. Race HQ is the Staff of Life pub where post race refreshments and prizes await; entries accepted pre entry or on the day.
