Holcombe 10

The Holcombe 10 features two distances across Holcombe Moor, organized by The Sunnywood Project in collaboration with the National Trust. The event utilizes routes that showcase land management and conservation work within the area. Both courses begin at the Hare & Hounds in Holcombe Brook and travel through Redisher Woods before a steep climb to the landmark Peel Tower. Participants then follow a bridleway toward Beetle Hill.

Available distances include:

  • 10 km
  • 10 Mile

The 10 km route contours toward Pilgrims Cross and traverses Harcles Hill. The course then descends from Peel Tower back through the Redisher Wood Nature Reserve to the finish.

The 10 Mile route extends further by contouring around Bull Hill and heading toward Crowthorn and Quarlton Heights. This path follows a bridleway across Red Brook before ascending to Pilgrims Cross to rejoin the main route.

Water stations are situated at Peel Tower and the National Trust ranger base at Chatterton Close. All participants receive a finisher memento. Because the race takes place on moorland, specific kit requirements are in place, including waterproof clothing, a foil blanket, a whistle, and the ability to carry 500ml of water. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event.

Proceeds from the race support youth services and community activities, including Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programmes and outdoors sessions for children with social and emotional needs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
