Holcomb Valley Trail Run
Big Bear, United States • 12-14 Jun 2026
Event overview
The Holcomb Valley Trail Run is an annual trail running event held in Big Bear Lake, California. The event offers three distances:
- 33 Miles
- 14 Miles
- 7 Miles
The event serves as a fundraiser for the local volunteer search and rescue organization. Volunteers from that organization help staff aid stations, mark the course, provide communications and safety support, and assist with first aid. On-site registration and packet pickup take place at Meadows Edge Picnic Area; on-site or same-day registration is available only if the event is not sold out, carries an additional fee, and does not guarantee a shirt. Volunteers may earn race credits toward future race registrations.
Course and logistics
All distances start and finish at Meadows Edge Picnic Area next to Big Bear Lake. Courses run along a scenic section of the Pacific Crest Trail combined with portions of Forest Service roads in Holcomb Valley. Elevation gain and loss:
- 33 Mile: +4,150 ft / -4,150 ft
- 14 Mile: +1,950 ft / -1,950 ft
- 7 Mile: +1,100 ft / -1,100 ft
Aid stations: seven on the 33 Mile course, three on the 14 Mile course, and one on the 7 Mile course; stations provide sweet and salty snacks, hydration drink, and water. Drop bags are allowed for 33-mile runners and are transported to the Van Dusen aid station, which is accessed twice on the course. The event enforces hard cutoff checkpoints and may remove participants who fall behind required pace. Spectator access includes vehicle parking rules and suggests high-clearance vehicles for most aid-station approaches. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
