Green Valley Lake Half Marathon

Green Valley Lake 5K, 10K and Half Marathon

This event offers three measured running distances around Green Valley Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains. The courses combine a 3⁄4 mile out-and-back along the lake, paved road, dirt roads and single-track trail through pine forest and rocky vistas. Runners encounter an approximate 400 foot elevation gain near the 5K turnaround, and the 10K and half marathon continue on rolling forest service roads.

Distances:

• 5K: 3.1 miles, out-and-back start along the lake
• 10K: 6.2 miles, continues on forest service roads
• Half marathon: 13.1 miles, extended route on dirt roads and trails

Aid and logistics include water and aid stations spaced about every 1.5 miles and chip timing provided by Itz About Time. Participants receive an event t-shirt and a finisher medal; there are overall awards and age group medals awarded three deep in five year spans up to 80 plus. Post-race activities and the awards ceremony take place at the Downtown Community Garden. Race headquarters and packet pickup are handled at the Black Dog Social Club, and local overnight options include nearby campgrounds and short term rentals.
