HOKA Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is a two day festival weekend of trail racing held in Big Bear Lake, California. The event features races across multiple distances, a start and finish in downtown Big Bear Lake, and a festival area with food and drinks from local vendors, a DJ, and a parade through town.
The event offers five race distances with stated course lengths and elevation gains:
- 100M - 162 km, 4850 m+ elevation gain, 8 Running Stones
- 100K - 99 km, 3120 m+ elevation gain, 6 Running Stones
- 50K - 48.4 km, 1339 m+ elevation gain, 4 Running Stones
- 21K - 19.5 km, 575 m+ elevation gain, 2 Running Stones
- 10K - 10.5 km, 280 m+ elevation gain
Courses pass by Big Bear Lake and include varied terrain and topography. Runners go through different climate zones described as high desert, sub alpine, and semi arid. Specific course features include climbs to Sugarloaf Mountain and descents into Siberia Canyon.
For 2026 the event is the UTMB World Series Americas Major, where participants collect double the Running Stones compared to other UTMB World Series events. Each Major grants automatic qualification spots for the following year's UTMB World Series Finals and the event is a dual qualifier for the UTMB World Series Finals and the Western States Endurance Run.
