Highland Fling 53 mile Ultra Trail Marathon
The Highland Fling is a point-to-point trail ultramarathon covering the southern 53 miles (85 km) of the West Highland Way. The course runs from Milngavie to Tyndrum through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park in Scotland. The route features 2300m of total ascent and 2100m of descent, consisting of 90% trail and 10% road. The race is waymarked, and navigation is not required.
Registration is open on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must meet specific entry criteria to qualify, which includes having completed an ultramarathon, a trail marathon, or a road marathon after 1st January 2024. Road marathons must have been completed in under 5 hours, while any finish time is accepted for trail marathons or ultramarathons. Long distance off-road events or long hill races may be accepted at the organizer's discretion.

The event provides chip timing, free luggage transport from the start to the finish, and a drop bag system with three available locations. Mandatory safety equipment includes an emergency foil blanket, a waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, a headtorch, and a mobile phone. Running poles are permitted after the first 7.5 miles.
