High Peak 40

The High Peak 40 is an ultramarathon covering 40 miles around the Peak District, starting and ending in Buxton. The event returned in 2024 after an eight year hiatus and the 2026 edition marks its 40th year anniversary on Saturday 19 September 2026.

The route combines trails, paths and roads and passes through a number of local features, including Goyt Valley, Eccles Pike, Mam Tor, Cave Dale, Tideswell and the Monsal Trail. The course includes climbs out of deep dales and stretches of road through the surrounding area, with a mix of surface types along the route.

Entry details are managed via the SiEntries system. Entries open on 11 October 2025 and close on 5 September 2026. Entry fees listed for the event include an Early Bird fee of £45.00 and a Standard fee of £50.00 from 01/01/2025. The minimum age to enter is 18 or older.
